I want my own website but where do I start? I am totally clueless!
The first step is to order a hosting plan. Immediately after your account is setup (that will be done within 24 hours) you will be sent
an account information email which contains detailed instructions regarding the management of your hosting account. The first step that you
need to take to make your website visible online is to gain FTP access to your site, and upload the initial file to the proper
(yourdomainname.com) directory.
This initial file is generally named index.html, and it is the web page that will load when you access www.yourdomain.com

Such subdomains can be forwarded to your main domain name or any other domain name or they can be setup to act like totally seperate websites.
What is the difference between a Sub domain and a Domain Name?
The difference between a subdomain and a domain name can be explained easily.
While a domain name is a full website address, totally
independent of other domain names, a subdomain depends on a domain name.
If for example "yourdomain.com" is your domain
name, then
http://yourdomain.com
and
http://www.yourdomain.com
would be your domain name's address.
A subdomain name would be a name *under* your domain
name, something like "subdomain.yourdomain.com".
It's address would then be:
http://subdomain.yourdomain.com
and
http://www.subdomain.yourdomain.com
It can say anything you want instead of "subdomain"
and the nice thing is that unlike a full domain name
a subdomain does not need to be registered - we will
register it for you.

HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language.
Basically it is a kind of typesetting language that
is used to create web pages on the internet.

What is a POP3 account?
A POP3 account is basically a "mailbox" that
holds emails that are being sent to you until you view
them (download them) with an email program. An email
program is software that runs on your computer, such
as "Outlook Express" or "Eudora"
or "Pegasus Mail". There are literally thousands
of other email programs available, we recommend that
you use "Outlook Express".
How do I setup a new POP3 email
account in my control panel?
You need to refer our online Documentation at the following
link to know how to add email accounts in your control
panel.
How do I check my email using an
email program such as Outlook Express?
Due to the popularity of Outlook Express, we will use
this program to demonstrate how to retrieve and send
emails with your mailserver. The same settings are applicable
to any other POP3 and SMTP compatible email program,
such as Eudora, Pegasus Mail or Netscape.
Now please click on "Tools" and then on "Accounts…".
A new window will appear that says "Internet Accounts".
There you click on "Add" and then on "Mail…".
In the "Display name" field, please type in
your full name and click the "Next" button.
Now please select "I already have an email address
that I'd like to use". In the "E-mail address"
field, type in the email address that you just created
- in our example, that would be admin@yourdomain.com
for your website, please don't forget to replace "admin"
with the mailbox name you created, and "yourdomain.com"
with your own domain name.
Now, please click on "Next". On this page
where it asks for "My incoming mail server is a"
- please select "POP3". In the "Incoming
mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP)" field please type in
"mail.yourdomain.com". In the "Outgoing
mail (SMTP) server" field, please also type in
"mail.yourdomain.com" - in both cases, of
course you replace "yourdomain.com" with your
own domain name.
Here, you type in your "Account Name" and
"Password". Please note that your account
name consists of the mailbox name that you created before
- for instance, "admin". The password would
be whatever you have typed in before as password. Please
also check the "remember password" option
and do NOT select the "Login using Secure Password
Authentication (SPA)". Now, please click the "Next"
and then the "Finish" and "Close"
buttons.
You have now successfully configured Outlook Express
for retrieving your emails. You can now retrieve and
send emails by simply clicking on "New Mail"
for composing a message, and "Send / Receive"
for receiving and sending messages.
What is an email redirect?
What is an email redirect? It is more or less an email
address that - contrary to the POP account that we have
described above - does not have a mailbox, but rather
forwards emails to another email address.
Email redirects can also be used to generate alias names
for your POP3 account, for instance, let's say you have
created a POP3 user like in our example above, you created
the user "admin" with an email address of
"admin@yourdomain.com" (please don't forget
that in this manual, we always use "yourdomain.com"
as a placeholder for your real domain name). For this
email address, you could add an email redirect name
of "myname@yourdomain.com" that forwards email
to your POP3 mailbox "admin@yourdomain.com"

What is a mailing list or group?
A Mailing Group is basically an email address that
distributes emails to all email addresses attached to
this mailing group. It is a subscription based email
distrubution service, so to say. Why subscription based?
Well, everyone who wishes to receive emails addressed
to the mailing group must be subscribed to the group,
otherwise he / she will simply not receive the emails.
You can manually add subscribers and remove them from
your mailing group with this control panel.
What is the practical use of a mailing group? It can
be used as a discussion forum where all subscribers
can discuss certain topics - in this case, every subscriber
would receive every email that a subscriber sends to
the list, and then another subscriber would receive
the response sent to the list, and so forth. That way,
a discussion can take place. Another use of a mailing
group would be to use it as an announcement list. If
you have a few dozen or hundred customers that you would
like to inform about news concerning your website or
new product offerings, you would simply send an email
to the mailing group and all subscribers - provided
they are part of your mailing group - would receive
this announcement! That's a great time-saver, imagine
you'd have to send this email manually to all of your
customers!
What is an autoresponder?
An Auto Responder is an email address that sends an
automated response back to every email address it received
a message from.
Auto responders are an extremely important tool in order
to increase customer satisfaction. If you have a corporate
website and run an online support center or complaint
departement, an auto responder is a MUST and an invaluable
utility

Can I upload my files to your servers
using FRONTPAGE 2000 and 2002?
Yes we fully support FRONTPAGE 2000 and 2002 and you
can publish your web pages or your website using any
of the mentioned Front Page softwares.
How do I publish my files using
FrontPage?
(1) On the menu bar, select File and then Publish Web.
(2) Click Options to expand the list of options.
(3) Select whether you want to publish only pages that
have changed, or all pages.
(4) In the "Specify the location to publish your
web to" box, type in http://www.yourdomain.com
as the location. Make sure to replace " www.yourdomain.com
" with your own domain name.
Please note that you can only publish your website in
that way when the nameservers of your doman name have
already been changed to ours. If not, please request
it at salesATwizwebhost.com.
Click Publish and wait. That's it.
What is FTP?
FTP means File Transfer Protocol and is an internet
protocol with which you can transfer files over the
Internet. Basically it is very fast and reliable.
What does unlimited FTP accounts
mean?
You can create unlimited FTP user accounts in your
control panel. This webuser will get his very own access
information and his webaddress will look like this:
http://www.yourname.com. Because of this great feature
you could offer small hosting services to mini websites
that do not need their own domain name. Once you order
a hosting account at WizWebHost, simply login to your
conrol panel and start creating FTP users.
How can I upload my website via
FTP?
The hostname (also called destination address / target
address / ftp address, etc.) for your account is always
ftp.yourdomain.com or the IP address (looks like this:
"100.200.150.250") Please note that ftp.yourdomain.com
will not work before you have changed the nameservers
of your domain name to ours. To connect please use username
and password you received in your account information
email.
The directory that you should upload your HTML files
(the web pages) to is /yourdomainname.com
The directory that you should upload your cgi-scripts
to is /cgi-bin
Which FTP programs do you recommend?

appear to be down at times and they are possible problems
